The United Soccer Leagues have released the 2006 Premier Development League U.S. Open Cup qualifying schedule. A total of
114 regular-season PDL matches will double as Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup qualifiers this year.
Qualifying kicks off on April 29 when the Austin Lightning visit the Laredo Heat. The schedule begins in earnest on the weekend of May 5, with 13 matches. The Des Moines Menace, who captured the imagination of fans everywhere with their amazing cup run last season, begin their qualifying campaign on May 13, with a visit to the St. Louis Lions. Tacoma FC will take over the schedule of the Spokane Shadow, who were forced to withdraw from the 2006 season schedule due to stadium issues.
