Kings bounce back at Richmond
Cincinnati evens up weekend trip with 1-0 win.
The Cincinnati Kings had a rough start to their opening weekend, falling 1-0 at Charlotte, but will return home happy after knocking off the Richmond Kickers by the same score. The win brings the Kings’ Open Cup qualifying record to 1-1. Derek Smith scored on a feed from Nowaf Jaman just five minutes after halftime to even out Cincinnati’s season opening road trip.
The Kickers, who won the U.S. Open Cup in 1995, scored what they thought was the game’s first goal in the 8th minute, but the play was ruled offside. The Kings have another road game in Harrisburg on April 29 before their home opener on May 5, while the Kickers next Open Cup qualifier will be at home on May 6.
