Quarterfinals

Fore River made the way to the National Challenge Cup Quarterfinals,

defeating New York Field Club 3-0 at Quincy, Massachusetts. Fore River

found their first goal after twenty five minutes, when Billy Daly put away

the rebound from a save attempt by Rudolph Hunziker. Later in the first half,

Clawson fouled Sweeny in the penalty area, and New York were awarded a

penalty. Fore River goal keeper Jimmy Lambie kept the New York slate clean,

saving the penalty. In the second half, New York came out like gangbusters,

but could not breach the Fore River defense. Finally, Tommy Underwood put

the game out of reach with two goals.

On a field covered in snow, Ben Miller A.C. defeated Olympia F.C. 2-1

in Chicago, advancing to the Western Final. After a relatively even first

quarter hour, Vidano opened the books for Olympia, finding Miller

goalkeeper McGarry out of position after a scrimmage for the ball. Jimmy

Dunn tied the game for Miller just before halftime, sending a shot in goal

from twenty five yards out. Olympia had a chance to snatch the lead in

the second half, when Barney Viadno stepped up to take a penalty kick.

Vidano missed the attempt, but an offside call gave him another chance.

With a second chance  at the spot kick, Vidano's effort was saved by McGarry.

Ben Miller won the match on an own goal, as McHenry sent a pass across the

goal the struck off Trojanek and went in.
