Over a year after surviving Fore River F.C.'s upset bid in the 1926

National Challenge Cup,  the ASL's Boston Wonder Workers fell in

extra time to the same semi-pro club, 3-2. The Boston club , who

were without star players Tommy McMillan and Johnny Ballantyne,

opened the scoring after nine minutes when Bobby Blair scored after

McCormick was unable to hold onto Alex McNab's shot. Midway through

the second half, Dundas drew Fore River level with a five yard shot

after goalkeeper Jack Davidson was unable to clear a miskicked ball

by Jock McIntyre.

With just seven minutes remaining, Alex Mcnab was brought down in

the penalty area, and Barney Battles converted the spot kick to seemingly

give Boston the win. With just two minutes to go, McIntyre needlessly

gave away a corner kick, which Fall River took full advantage of, scoring

through Gowdy and sending the game into extra time. Before extra time

could start, Fore River were reduced to ten men, when referee George

Lambie gave Neale his walking papers after a foul.

In extra time, both McNab and Jamie Ewan failed to convert easy chances.

Midway through the first fifteen minutes, Fore River got their goal. After

Davidson lost his handle on a cross from the left wing, Dundas scored from

the ensuing scrum in front of the goal. Dundas' second goal turned out to

be the game winner, sending the Boston club out of the cup.  Boston would

finish the ASL season in second behind Bethlehem Steel.
