Menace and Crusaders move on to Round One
The Des Moines Menace and the Cape Cod Crusaders avoided a repeat of last year's PDL disaster with convincing wins over their USASA opponents Wednesday night. Last year, the Cocoa Expos and the Cascade Surge were eliminated by USASA opponents despite fielding strong sides.

Des Moines defeated the Croatian Eagles, a Region II team from Milwaukee, 4-1 in front of a home crowd. PDL veteran and two-time league MVP Tomas Boltnar scored a goal and assisted on another to lead the Menace into Round One. The win earns them one more home game against another USASA opponent, the Dallas Mustang Legends (Region III) next Wednesday.

Cape Cod traveled to Baltimore, MD to take on Allied SC from Region I, and walked away with a 2-0 victory. Adam Mitchinson headed home the opening goal in the 30th minute and it took an own goal in the 65th for the Crusaders to book their ticket to the First Round. Cape Cod will have to travel again, this time packing their bags for North Carolina to take on the Carolina Dynamo on June 14.
