Unfortunately, their shutout streak came to an end in the final when they lost 2-0 to the Rochester Raging Rhinos.

Shining Moment: With two titles, and two other trips to the final, the Galaxy have played in a lot of big games. However, Galaxy fans would have a hard time debating which golden goal in the 2001 tournament was bigger. Alexi Lalas’ header to win it (and subsequent run up the hill against the Chicago in the semifinals, or Danny Califf’s 92nd minute winner to win the championship against the New England Revolution.

Shining Moment: Unfortunately, the thing the Revolution are known for is losing to the Mid-Michigan Bucks of the PDL at home in the 2000 Open Cup. One might say a rematch at Foxboro Stadium in the 2001 tournament, and a 7-1 thrashing of the Bucks could be their shining moment.
