USL-2 given leftover USOC spot
Mariners’ folding changes Open Cup format slightly
 When the United Soccer Leagues announced that the Virginia Beach Mariners would no longer be a part of the USL First Division, that left a hole in the upcoming U.S. Open Cup. The vacancy will be filled by an extra team in the USL Second Division, increasing the number of teams to seven.
USL First Division Qualifying
All ten U.S.-based teams in the USL First Division will participate in the 2007 U.S. Open Cup. This year, all of the non-MLS clubs in the tournament will enter in the first round, which is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, June 12. The field remains the same for the league, except for two new expansion teams, the Carolina Railhawks and the California Victory.
