The two finalists will represent the region in the U.S. Open Cup

Region II announced the pairings for the semifinals of their Open Cup qualification tournament. The games will take place on May 12 at 2:00 p.m. EST. Detroit United (Detroit) will host RWB Adria (Chicago) and Bavarian SC (Milwaukee) will host AAFC Elite (Detroit) with the winners of those matches moving on to represent Region II in the 2007 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

RWB Adria (Chicago, IL)
at
Detroit United
(Detroit, MI)
May 12 - 2:00pm EST

AAFC Elite (Ann Arbor, MI)
at
Bavarian SC
(Milwaukee, WI)
May 12 - 3:00pm EST

Bavarian SC is the most experienced club out of the four, having made four Open Cup appearances (1999, 2000, 2003, 2004). The club’s greatest glory came in 2003 when they became the first USASA club to make it to the third round of the tournament. They knocked off the PDL’s Des Moines Menace and also upset the Reading Rage of the D3 Pro League (now known as the USL Second Division). Their cup run would eventually come to an end in a Milwaukee derby match with the A-League’s (now USL First Division) Milwaukee Wave United. Today, Bavarian SC stands as one of five USASA clubs to ever upset a professional team.

RWB Adria hasn’t been to the tournament since 1996, and the two Michigan clubs, Detroit United and AAFC Elite, have never qualified. In fact, the state of Michigan has only been represented one time by the USASA since 1995 and that was with the Chaldean Arsenal (Detroit) back in 2001.
