Region II adds their teams to the Cup
Bavarian SC and RWB Adria punch their tickets
In two one-sided semifinal matchups, Region II submitted their two teams into the 2007 U.S. Open Cup. Milwaukee’s Bavarian SC defeated AAFC Elite 6-0 on Saturday afternoon, putting them back in the Open Cup for the first time since 2004. In the other semifinal, RWB Adria were rude guests, defeating Detroit United on their own field 3-0. Adria ended an Open Cup drought of ten years with the win.

Detroit United
(Detroit, MI)

AAFC Elite (Ann Arbor, MI)
0:6
Bavarian SC
(Milwaukee, WI)

This is the fifth Open Cup appearance in the last nine years for Bavarian SC. Like many USASA clubs, three out of their four appearances were first round losses. However, in 2003, they made history by becoming the first USASA club to advance to the third round of the Open Cup. That year, they knocked off the Des Moines Menace of the PDL, the Reading Rage of the D3 (now, USL-2), but the cup run came to an end against the A-League’s (USL-1) Milwaukee Wave United. With their win over Reading, they are one of three teams in the USASA to defeat a professional club. (1997 Bridgeport Italians vs. Rhode Island Stingrays (D3) & 2006 Dallas Roma FC vs. Miami FC and Chivas USA)

RWB Adria are based out of Chicago and play in the National Soccer League. Their last Open Cup appearance was back in 1996 when they lost in the first round to the El Paso Patriots.
