Kickers play spoiler against the Kings
Harrisburg and Wilmington draw in their opener
The Richmond Kickers are re-loaded and ready to defend their Second Division championship, and they began the season with a 2-0 home win over the Cincinnati Kings. Mike Burke and Sasha Gorres scored second half goals to help spoil the Kings season opener. The Kickers have already qualified for the Open Cup as the last year's league champ, so they will be playing the role of spoiler throughout the qualification process. (Match Reports: Richmond & Cincinnati)
The Harrisburg City Islanders opened their home schedule and a sell-out crowd watched them play to a 1-1 draw with the Wilmington Hammerheads. Charles Nweke scored for the Hammerheads in the opening minute of the match and Michael Lookingland equalized just before the halftime break. (Match Reports: Harrisburg)
