USL-2 given leftover USOC spot
Mariners' folding changes Open Cup format slightly
When the United Soccer Leagues announced that the Virginia Beach Mariners would no longer be a part of the USL First Division, that left a hole in the upcoming U.S. Open Cup. The vacancy will be filled by an extra team in the USL Second Division, increasing the number of teams to increase from five to six.
