The Laredo Heat opened their season with a dominating 3-0 win over the Baton Rouge Capitals. Three different goals scorers led the way for the Heat, but the story of the match is the one-sided play where Baton Rouge wasn’t able to get off a single shot in the match.

The Mississippi Brilla celebrated their inaugural match with a 1-1 draw at home against the New Orleans Shell Shockers. Matt Kelso opened the scoring in the 16th minute and the club’s first goal by James Gledhill proved to be the game’s equalizer in the 35th minute. (PDL Southern Conference qualifying standings)

In the PDL Western Conference, the Bakersfield Brigade have won their first two matches of the season after a 1-0 win over the Orange County Blue Star. Francisco Gomez converted a penalty kick just before halftime and the Brigade held on the rest of the way.
