The NPSL’s Charm City F.C. opened the Region I qualifying tournament with a resounding 5-0 win over New Jersey’s Go Soccer F.C at Calvert Hall College High School in Baltimore. Charm City took a control of the game right away when Darren Larocque scored from a Matt Beckman free kick in the 5th minute. Ben Pardew doubled the advantage eight minutes later thanks to a cross from Patrick Crawford.
Twenty-six minutes into the second half, Charm City widened their lead on a goal from Ben Delisle, with an assist from Matt Beckman. Delisle then assisted on Larocque’s second goal of the day with ten minutes remaining, and Luciano Brunetti capped off the scoring with an unassisted tally in the 85th minute. The visiting Go Soccer played hard until the end, despite having only 12 men available.
Charm City have a Baltimore derby awaiting them next, facing Christos S.C. of the Maryland Major Soccer League on May 3 at Cedar Lane Park in Hartford County, Maryland. Kickoff is 3pm, and admission if free. The winner will face either Vereinigung Erzgebirge or Aegean Hawks on May 24 for a spot in this year’s Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
