USSF: Third Round U.S. Open Cup Possible Pairings Announced
Third Round games set to kick off on June 30

CHICAGO (June 11, 2009) — U.S. Soccer has announced the third round possible pairings for the 2009 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Results from the second round of play on June 16 will determine the matchups and venues for the third round to take place on June 30.
The second round of play includes eight teams from the United Soccer Leagues First Division (USL1), four from the USL Second Division (USL2), and three clubs from the Premier Development League (PDL); only one side from the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) remains to fill out the 16-team bracket.

The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, the U.S. Soccer Federation’s National Championship, is an annual competition open to all amateur and professional soccer teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer. It is the oldest annual team tournament in U.S. sports history and among the oldest soccer tournaments of its type in the world. In 1999, the competition was renamed to honor long-time soccer pioneer Lamar Hunt.
