June 30
Harrisburg City Islanders (USL-2) at New England Revolution (MLS)
Veterans Stadium - New Britain, CT | 7 p.m.
DID YOU KNOW
The first two Open Cup appearances for New England ended in upsets (1997 Long Island, A-League & 2000 Mid Michigan, PDL). In the seven showings that followed, the Revs have only lost once to a lower division opponent, a penalty kick loss to Rochester in 2004.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS
The teams met in the 2007 Open Cup quarterfinals, with New England coming out on top 2-1. Andy Dorman and Taylor Twellman scored early first half goals for the Revs. Matt Tanzini pulled one back for Harrisburg in the 77th minute, but were unable to find the equalizer in the final 13 minutes.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
New England
Jeff Larentowicz (M) – Larentowicz has provided a much-needed deep scoring threat for the Revs in games where Shalrie Joseph has either played further up the field or been unavailable. Should Harrisburg sag back off him, the Brown University graduate could make them pay.
Kenny Mansally (F/M) – The 20 year old native of The Gambia is in his second year with the Revs. Mansally’s performance for Gambia in the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup resulted in New England becoming interested in him.
Brad Knighton (GK) – The Revs' backup is expected to start tonight for the first time since April 25. In five starts this season, Knighton has a 2.00 GAA and a record of 1-1-3. Knighton replaced the injured Matt Reis early inthe season as the latter was sidelined with a knee injury and a concussion.
Harrisburg
Ty Shipalane (M) – Shipalane arrived at Harrisburg after three seasons with the Michigan Bucks of the PDL, where he had 11 goals and 9 assists over 49 games, as well as two goals in Open Cup play. He also scored the game winning goal in the 2006 PDL Championship game.
Chad Severs (F) – Severs returned to Harrisburg on a full time basis in 2009. His first, and only full, season with the City Islanders was in 2005, when he scored 14 goals in 20 games. In 2006 & 2007 he played with the Rochester Rhinos, but also made appearances for Harrisburg while on loan, as well as Otago United in New Zealand. Severs seems to have returned to his 2005 form, scoring six goals in nine matches this year.
Stephen Fisher (F) – Fisher has spent his entire professional career with Harrisburg, beginning with the club’s debut season in 2004. He began 2009 as the club’s all-time leader in games played with 83 and ranks among the leaders in minutes played (4,202, 5th), goals (13, tied for 4th), assists (12, tied for 2nd), and points (38, 3rd). Fisher has also scored three of the most famous goals in team’s history: The club’s first-ever goal on May 8, 2004, the extra time goal to beat Cleveland in the USL-2 playoffs the year they won the title, as well as the lone goal in Harrisburg’s 1-0 upset of D.C. United in the 2007 Open Cup.

Ocean City Barons (PDL) at D.C. United (MLS)
Maryland Soccerplex - Boyds, MD | 7:30 p.m.
DID YOU KNOW
This is the first time that the Barons have faced a team from Major League Soccer. They have a 7-4-0 record in the U.S. Open Cup, with four of those wins coming against USL-2 opponents. They are 2-2 all-time away from home in the tournament. Also, this will be the second time that the Barons’ all-time leading scorer Byron Carmichael has faced D.C. United in the Open Cup. In the 2003 Quarterfinals, after thrashing the Dallas Burn of MLS 4-1 in the previous round (Thanks to Carmichael’s two assists) the Wilmington Hammerheads fell to D.C. United 1-0 on a Ronald Cerritos goal in the 30th minute. Carmichael started in that game and played 54 minutes.
D.C. United has never faced a team from the PDL or USASA in their Open Cup history. They have faced a club from New Jersey though (besides the MetroStars, of course!). That was in the second round of the 2001 tournament, when they thrashed the New Jersey Stallions of the D3 Pro league 8-0.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Ocean City
Tunde Oginbiyi (GK) – The goalkeeper will be a junior this Fall at Boston College (after transferring from the University of New Hampshire) and has yet to play an NCAA game, but in the meantime was called into the Nigerian Olympic Team camp last year and has emerged as one of the top goalkeepers in the PDL. He earned a clean sheet in his Open Cup debut by shutting out Crystal Palace Baltimore.
JT Noone (M/F) – Last year, Noone became the first All-American at Temple University in 22 years and in 2009, he is the first Division I All-American to suit up for the Barons. In his first season in the PDL, he leads the team in scoring with two goals and two assists in six games, including a goal against Crystal Palace Baltimore in the First Round of the Open Cup.
Joe Banks (D) – In 1999, Banks began in the Barons youth academy and 10 years later, he finished a successful career at Drexel University and has returned to the club for his sixth PDL season. He now coaches in the very youth academy he started with and the Barons captain helps lead a young defensive unit.
D.C. United
Marc Burch (D) – Burch contributed 2 goals and four assists in all competitions for D.C. in 2008, covering 44 games. Burch scored both of D.C. United’s goals in their third round 2-0 win over Rochester in 2008.
Chris Pontius (M/F) – The rookie from UC Santa Barbara has become a key figure in United’s offense, scoring four goals and assisting on two others.
Christian Gomez (M) – After beginning his MLS career with four very productive seasons with D.C., Gomez tried his luck with Colorado in 2008 and found very little success. Now back in D.C., Gomez seems to have regained his scoring touch, as he has already equaled last season’s goal total (3) through only 14 games.
OPEN CUP HISTORY
D.C. United
Overall: 20-7-3 (PK: 1-2), 61 GF 28 GA – 2 Championships (1996, 2008)
vs. PDL: 0-0-0 0 GF 0 GA
The two-time Open Cup winning D.C. United have made a reputation of going deep in the Open Cup. Six of their eleven appearances have ended with either at the semifinals or final. D.C. United have only dropped three Open Cup games to lower division opponents, all three times (1999, 2004 & 2007) were the only occasions they exited the tournament after one match.
Ocean City
Overall: 6-3-0, 24 GF 14 GA
vs. MLS: 0-0-0, 0 GF 0 GA
The Barons are one of the PDL Open Cup mainstays, and are in the elite club of four PDL teams to register three or more wins against professional clubs (Michigan Bucks - 7, Des Moines Menace - 5, Ocean City Barons – 4, Carolina Dynamo – 3). Their second round win over Real Maryland made them only the sixth PDL team to register two wins over professional teams in a single Open Cup tournament. The others were Carolina Dynamo (2006), Des Moines Menace (2005), Fresno Fuego (2003), Michigan Bucks (1999 & 2006), and Richmond Kickers (1995).

Chicago Fire (MLS) at Wilmington Hammerheads (USL-2)
Legion Stadium - Wilmington, NC | 7 p.m.
DID YOU KNOW
Wilmington’s most famous win was their 4-1 rout of Dallas in 2003. However, the other four times the Hammerheads have faced MLS opponents in cup play, their biggest loss was only a 3-1 defeat to F.C. Dallas in 2005, which was in extra time. The others were each decided by a single goal.
The Fire have faced USL-2 level opponents four times in their Open Cup history, and have won each game by at least two goals.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Chicago
Patrick Nyarko (F) – After only playing in nine games for the Fire in 2008, the native of Ghana has made taken on a larger role this year. Has two goals and two assists, and has played in all 14 MLS games for Chicago this season.
Justin Mapp (M) – Has won two Open Cup championships in his nine seasons with the Fire. Figures to play a key role with Cuauhtemoc Blanco suspended from Chicago’s Open Cup matches this season.
Chris Rolfe (F) – Has appeared in all 14 of Chicago’s MLS matches, starting six. Despite his reduced playing time, he ranks fourth on the team in shots, and has three goals and one assit.
Wilmington
Kenny Bundy (M) – Perhaps it’s just a coincidence that success has returned to the Hammerheads along with Bundy, but the last time the team was in the Open Cup (2006), was also the last season Bundy was with the team. Bundy has 11 goals and 10 assists in his 57 games as a Hammerhead from 2004-2006, before he left to concentrate on coaching youth teams in the Wilmington area.
Jyler Noviello (F) – While Noviello’s nine appearances in 2009 have come off the bench, he has scored four times in those games, including this incredible goal against Pittsburgh on June 7.
Jamie Watson (F) – After making his debut with the PDL’s DFW Tornados at age 18, Watson spent three years with Real Salt Lake, where he made 38 appearances from 2005-2007. After spending most of 2008 with the Austin Aztex U23 PDL team, Watson came to where he has become the focal point of the Hammerheads offense.
Wilmington
Overall: 10-7-1 (PK: 1-0), 43 GF 25 GA
vs. MLS: 1-4-0, 7 GF 9 GA
Wilmington has one of the more dramatic Open Cup histories of the USL-2 clubs. Wilmington has been in seven tournaments, and has advanced to play MLS clubs four times. The most famous of these was their 4-1 drubbing of the Dallas Burn in 2003.
Chicago
Overall: 25-7-2 (PK: 2-0), 66 GF 30 GA – 4 Championships (1998, 2000, 2003, 2006)
vs. USL-2: 4-0-0, 14 GF 3 GA
When you speak of Open Cup pedigree among MLS teams, the Chicago Fire is at the top of the list. Their four Open Cup titles rank behind only Bethlehem Steel and Maccabee A.C. of Los Angeles. However, with Chicago it’s either go deep or don’t go at all. Out of their 11 Cup appearances, the only times they have not reached at least the semifinals were when they were upset in their first match (1999, 2002 and 2007).

Chivas USA (MLS) at Charleston Battery (USL-1)
Blackbaud Stadium - Charleston, SC | 7:30 p.m.
DID YOU KNOW
This is not the first cross-country trip Chivas USA has made for an Open Cup match. In 2005, they played their very first cup match away to the Charlotte Eagles of the USL Second Division, and escaped with a last minute winning goal in extra time.
Coming into 2009, Charleston had played more Open Cup games against MLS opponents (14) than teams from the other four level of U.S. soccer (13). Only Rochester can make a similar claim among current USL-1 clubs.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Charleston
Darren Spicer (F) – Spicer was chosen 13th overall by Chivas USA in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft, but only saw action with the reserve squad. After a brief stint in Germany, Spicer joined the Minnesota Thunder for the 2007 season. He joined Charleston in 2008, and notched a hat trick in Charleston’s opening round 3-0 win over ASC New Stars last year.
Tyler Hemming (M) – The 23 year old Canadian began his pro career with Toronto F.C. in 2007, but only appeared in seven matches over two seasons. After a stint in Finland ended early due to injury in 2008, Hemming found his way to Charleston, and tied for the team assist lead with 3.
Defensive Back Line (John Wilson, Nelson Akwari, Frankie Sanfilippo, Matt Bobo, Dusty Hudock) – The main reason Charleston is undefeated in the USL First Division may lie with these players. Charleston has allowed only six goals in fifteen games, eight fewer than in the same period last season. Bobo and Sanfillippo have been named to the USL-1 Team of the Week twice, and Akwari has been honored once. Veteran goalkeeper Dusty Hudock holds a microscopic 0.23 goals against average.
Chivas USA
Zach Thornton (GK) – The former Chicago Fire goalkeeper has come back to life after three uneventful seasons. Currently second among MLS goalkeepers with a 0.80 goals against average. Was a part of all four Chicago Fire Open Cup championship teams.
Atiba Harris (M/F) – After racking up just five goals and 1 assist in 43 games with Real Salt Lake, the four year MLS veteran has notched five goals and seven assists in 51 games for Chivas USA. Has played in 23 games for the St. Kitts and Nevis national team, scoring seven goals in the process.
Gerson Mayen (M) – While only appearing in eight matches, Mayen has four assists this year. Made an appearance with the United States U20 team in 2008.
Charleston
Overall: 18-8-3 (PK: 2-1), 49 GF 32 GA
vs. MLS: 5-7-2 (PK: 1-1), 20 GF 24 GA
Charleston may be the second most famous USL club in Open Cup play, next to Rochester. The Battery has been to nine Open Cups, and has had one Quarterfinal appearance (2007), two semifinal appearances (1999 & 2004) and reached the Final in 2008.
CD Chivas USA
Overall: 1-3-1 (PK: 0-1), 6 GF 12 GA
vs. USL-1: 0-2-0, 1 GF 5 GA
Not much to write about as far as Chivas USA’s Open Cup history. In 2006 they were the first and only MLS team to lose to a USASA club (Dallas Roma), and in 2007 and 2008, they exited the tournament at the hands of the USL First Division Seattle Sounders.

Columbus Crew (MLS) at Rochester Rhinos (USL-1)
Marina Auto Stadium - Rochester, NY | 7 p.m.
DID YOU KNOW
In nine Open Cup tournaments, Columbus has been defeated by a lower division opponent just once, in 1999 when Rochester beat them 3-2 in the semifinals.
Rochester has just as many wins (7) and has played more games (18) than Columbus (7 & 14) has against MLS opponents in Open Cup play. The Rhinos have played half (18 of 36) of their Open Cup games against MLS clubs.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS
The two teams have met twice in Open Cup play, but not since 1999. The first was in 1998, when the Crew defeated Rochester 2-1 in the third round, in sudden death extra time. The second was the aforementioned 1999 showdown, on Rochester’s road to the 1999 Open Cup title.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Columbus
Emmanuel Ekpo (M) – The Nigerian native is the current assist leader for the Crew with 3. Just 21 years old, Ekpo has made six appearances with the Nigerian U-23 team, including a stint at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, in which Nigeria came away with the silver medal.
Eric Brunner (D) – Joined the Crew this season after spending most of 2008 with Miami F.C. of the USL First Division, where he played in all three of the club’s U.S. Open Cup games.
Jason Garey (F) – Has been with the club since his debut in 2006. Most of his playing time has come as a substitute, but Gold Cup commitments and giving other players rest between league games could see him in the starting squad.
Rochester
Johnny Menyongar (F) – If there is a Mr. Open Cup, it’s Menyongar. The Liberian native leads all players with 13 Open Cup goals in the Professional Era. While all but one of those goals has come as a member of the Minnesota Thunder, he will surely look to add to his total this year.
Brent Sancho (D) – The Trinidad & Tobago native has made 43 appearances for his national team, including T & T’s lone World Cup appearance in 2006. Sancho played for the Portland Timbers in 2001 & 2002, before spending time over the next five years with clubs in Trinidad & Tobago and
England. He returned to the USL-1 with Atlanta in 2008.
Taiwo Atieno (F) – Sure, he missed two penalty kicks in Rochester’s first round game versus Pittsburgh, but the English born Kenyan has been valuable to the Rhinos this year. After spending four seasons with various English teams, Atieno signed with the Puerto Rico Islanders, where he scored 12 goals in 39 games, including the goal that defeated Costa Rican powerhouse Alajuelense to send the Islanders to the group stages of the CONCACAF Champions League.
OPEN CUP HISTORY
Rochester
Overall: 22-10-4 (PK: 2-2), 63 GF 44 GA – 1 Championship (1999)
vs. MLS: 7-8-3 (PK: 1-2), 26 GF 29 GA
Rochester’s Open Cup pedigree is well known. In their thirteen appearances, they have failed to advance beyond their first match only once (a 1-0 loss to the Hershey Wildcats in 2001). Of course there is the Cup they won in 1999.
Columbus
Overall: 15-7-1 (PK: 0-1) 51 GF 29 GA – 1 Championship (2002)
vs. USL-1: 4-1-0 13 GF 6 GA
The first five times the Crew played in the Open Cup, their worst finish was reaching the quarterfinals (2000 & 2001), and made it to the finals in 1998 and won the cup in 2002. Wince 2002, the Crew has made only one quarterfinal appearance in four tries.

Kansas City Wizards (MLS) at Minnesota Thunder (USL-1)
National Sports Center - Blaine, MN | 8:05 p.m.
DID YOU KNOW
The first known team from Minnesota to participate in the Open Cup was St. Paul Sport Club in 1961. They represented Minnesota in the Round of 16 in the Western half of the bracket against Wisconsin’s Open Cup champions, Serbian S.C. of Milwaukee, but lost 2-1.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS
The two teams met one in Open Cup play, which resulted in a 3-1 upset win for Minnesota in the 2005 quarterfinals. Minnesota jumped out to a 3-0 lead behind two Johnny Menyongar goals and a Wizards own goal from Shavar Thomas. KC avoided the shutout when Ryan Pore scored in the 71st minute.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Kansas City
Claudio Lopez (F) – The 18-year Argentine veteran has traveled the word, beginning in his home country in 1990, and making stops in Spain (Valencia), Italy (Lazio), Mexico (Club America), and back home (Racing) before joining the Wizards in 2008. He was Kansas City’s points leader in 2008 (6 goals, 7 assists), and is tied for the lead so far this season.
Jack Jewsbury (M) – Jewsbury has spent his entire career in Missouri. He played college soccer at the University of St. Louis, and played a season with the PDL’s Kansas City Brass before being selected in the 2003 MLS SuperDraft by the Wizards. His seven assists in 2008 was good enough for a share of the team lead with Claudio Lopez.
Michael Harrington (M) – After starting all 57 out of 59 games for the Wizards in 2007 & 2008, as been used more as a substitute in 2009. Despite this, he has still has notched two assists, and has appeared in all but one of the Wizards game this year.
Minnesota
Ricardo Sanchez (M) – Sanchez began his career in 2004, and played with various reserve teams in Mexico before signing with USL First Division expansion club California Victory in 2007. Once the Victory folded at the end of the 2007 season, he signed with Minnesota. Sanchez was also a captain of the Mexican U-17 team that played in the 1999 U17 World Cup.
Leonel Saint-Preux (F) – The native of Haiti came to the Thunder this year after three seasons with Zenith of the Haitian league. He has made appearances for Haiti at various levels, including the Olympic and senior teams, and participated in Haiti’s 2010 World Cup qualifying matches last fall.
Melvin Tarley (M) – Tarley is on his third stint with the Thunder for the 26 year old Liberian. His first run with Minnesota was from 2003-2005, and his second stop was for the 2006 & 2007 seasons. In between, he has played for MLS clubs Real Salt Lake and Colorado Rapids, as well as the Puerto Rico Islanders and Miami F.C. in 2007. He has scored ten Open Cup goals for Minnesota in his career, ranking only behind fellow Liberian Johnny Menyongar, who has 12 for the Thunder.

vs. MLS: 4-3-1 (PK: 0-1), 18 GF 19 GA
The Thunder have made nine Open Cup appearances, and have had mixed results. Three times (1999, 2003 & 2006) they were out after one match. In 2004 they reached the quarterfinals (PK loss to the San Jose Earthquakes), and made the semifinals in 2005 (5-2 loss to the Los Angeles Galaxy).
Kansas City
Overall: 9-9-2 (PK: 0-2) 40 GF 26 GA – 1 Championship (2004)
vs. USL-1: 5-2-1 (PK: 0-1) 19 GF 8 GA
Outside of their Open Cup championship in 2004, Kansas City has been one of the more unremarkable MLS clubs in the Open Cup. Outside of 2002 and 2004, the other nine cup appearances for the Wizards have ended after either one or two matches.

Houston Dynamo (MLS) at Austin Aztex (USL-1)
Nelson Field - Austin, TX | 8:30 p.m.
DID YOU KNOW
In just their first season, Austin has as many Open Cup wins (2), as Houston has had in three Open Cup appearances.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS
No previous meetings
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Houston
Pat Onstad (GK) – The seemingly ageless goalkeeper keeps going strong at age 41. Onstad seems to be getting better with age, since he currently holds a 0.67 goals against average in the young 2009 MLS season, and his GAA since 2007 is 0.85 over 5,776 minutes.
Brad Davis (M) – The eight year MLS veteran currently leads MLS in assists with seven, and is one short of his 2008 total with nearly 700 less minutes played.
Corey Ashe (M) – Has spent most of his three years with Houston as a sub, but has seen action on both of the Dynamo’s Open Cup matches in 2007 & 2008. Has assisted on two goals this season, despite only 389 minutes of playing time.
Austin
Yordany Alvarez (MF) – Alvarez came to the U.S. as part of the Cuban U-23 team, which came to Tampa in March 2008 for the CONCACAF Olympic qualifying tournament. Alvarez and six other players defected. After a failed trail with the Los Angeles Galaxy, Alvarez signed with Austin, and is tied for the team lead in points with 8 (3 goals, 2 assists).
Lyle Adams (D) – The native of Kingston, Jamaica spent 2006 & 2007 in the PDL, and then was drafted by D.C. United in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft. Adams decided to try to catch on in Europe, but after failed trials with teams in Austria and Switzerland, he signed with Austin. He has been named to the USL First Division Team of the Week twice.
Eddie Johnson – No, not THAT Eddie Johnson, this one is from England. He began his career with Manchester United, but made only one appearance as a sup in a League Cup game in 2003. For the next three seasons he was loaned out to three different clubs before catching on with Bradford City. He finished his time in England with Chester City, and was allowed out of his contract in January 2009 as the club was facing financial hardships. He also appeared with England at the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship.
OPEN CUP HISTORY
Austin
Overall: 2-0-0, 4 GF 0 GA
vs. MLS: 0-0-0 0 GF 0 GA
While the Aztex are making their cup debut as a professional club, their PDL team qualified in 2008, losing to the Atlanta Silverbacks on penalty kicks in the first round. The Austin Lone Stars of the D3 Pro League made three straight Open Cup appearances (1997-1999).
Houston
Overall: 2-2-1 (PK:0-1) 9 GF 7 GA
vs. USL-1: 0-1-1 (PK: 0-1) 1 GF 2 GA
Simply put, Houston may be glad they are not facing the Charleston Battery for the third year in a row as their opening cup opponent. After reaching the semifinals in 2006, the Dynamo fell to the USL-1 Battery in 2007 and 2008.

Seattle Sounders F.C. (MLS) at Portland Timbers (USL-1)
PGE Park - Portland, OR | 10 p.m.
DID YOU KNOW
In 1987, Seattle’s Mitre Eagles were involved in one of the three U.S. Open Cup Finals to end in a scoreless draw, a game they lost on penalty kicks to Club Espana of Washington D.C.. Baltimore S.C. and Chicago’s Sparta played to a scoreless draw in the first leg of the 1940 Final, and eventually shared the title after a 2-2 draw in the second leg (no PK tiebreakers back then). The other was in 1997 when the Dallas Burn used PKs to topple D.C. United for their only Open Cup title.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS
While the MLS Sounders are a different animal than the team that was featured as the Timbers main rival in the USL First Division, this quite possibly is the most anticipated meeting between the two cities on the soccer pitch. Portland has faced the USL-1 Sounders twice in Open Cup play. In 2005, Portland came out on top 2-0, and Seattle returned the favor in 2007 with a 2-1 win.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Seattle
Sebastien Le Toux (M) – Le Toux is the link to the Open Cup success enjoyed by the USL-1 version of the Sounders. The French native played for two seasons with the USL-1 Sounders, and was the first player signed by the MLS Sounders. He ranks third in the Professional Era (1995-2009) in Open Cup goals scored with 10, and was involved in all four of the Sounders goals (2 goals, 2 assists) in their 4-1 MLS play-in win over Real Salt Lake on April 28
Fredy Montero (F) – On loan from Colombian club Depotivo Cali, Montero has become the center of the Sounders attack, scoring eight goals and assisting on six others after only 14 games.
Steve Zakuani (M) – The rookie has made an immediate impact for the Sounders, recording two goals and three assists so far. Was a runner-up for the Hermann Trophy in his sophomore year at the University of Akron.
Portland
Brian Farber (M) – After spending time with in the MLS reserve league with Houston and San Jose, Farber played with the Minnesota Thunder in 2007, appearing in all 28 games with 7 goals and 3 assists. He spent 2008 with the Stockton Cougars of the Professional Arena Soccer League.
Cameron Knowles (D) – Knowles has spent the last three seasons with Portland, after spending 2005 & 2006 with Real Salt Lake. In his debut season with Portland, he was named one of the three finalists for the USL-1 Defender of the Year award (won by David Hayes of Atlanta)
Keita Mandjou (F) – The native of Guinea began his career in 2004 with Perak FA of the Malaysian league, and won the league scoring title in 2006. In 2008 he moved to Brunei DPMM F.C. of Singapore’s S-League, and was also the captain of the Guinea Under-23 squad.
OPEN CUP HISTORY
Portland
Overall: 5-5-0, 16 GF 14 GA
vs. MLS: 0-2-0 0 GF 5 GA
Portland has struggled in Open Cup play, winning only three times in eight Open Cup matches prior to 2009, as well as becoming the second USL-1 side to lose to a USASA club (Hollywood United in 2008)
Seattle
Overall: 0-0-0 0 GF 0 GA
vs. USL-1: 0-0-0 0 GF 0 GA
The USL-1 version of the Sounders made a name for themselves by knocking off MLS clubs in recent Open Cup tournaments. In 2006 & 2007, the Sounders were 4-1 against MLS teams. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, the MLS Sounders will try to avoid a repeat of 1995, 1997 and 2006, the only years the USL-1 Sounders fell to lower division opponents in cup play.
